Misal means “Mixture” in Marathi & if you are in Maharashtra, you should definitely not miss this delicacy!!!
“Misal Pav ” Maharashtra’s most popular breakfast dish!
This is very tasty , Zesty,spicy, lip smacking , mouthwatering!!!
Its a must try recipe.
A traditional Maharashtrian dish made of sprouts & spices.

Misal Pav is most people’s hot favorite & is enjoyed for breakfast but its too tasty & heavy. So it may be treated as main meal or brunch.
Its Preparation is fairly simple and its mouthwatering aroma can whet anyone’s appetite.

INGREDIENTS

MATKI                                                                2 cup

Green CHILLI                                                     (crushed) 2

GARLIC                                                              3-4 cloves

GINGER                                                             1 inch

MUSTARD SEEDS                                             1 tsp

MAH.GODA MASALA or GARAM MASALA         1Tbsp
TURMERIC powder                                            1/2 tsp

RED CHILLI powder                                           1-1/2to2 tbsp

GROUNDNUTS                                                  1/2 bowl

CURRY LEAVES

Oil                                                                     3 Tbsp
Salt                                                                   As per taste
Tomato medium                                                2
Farsan (Fried savory snack mixture)                1Cup
Yellow sev                                                        1cup
Coriander leaves                                              1/2 cup
Curd(Optional)                                                  1/2 cup
Lemon
PREPARATION
Making sprouts at home is easier and better than getting ready made sprouts.
Take the amount of whole mung or matki you want to be sprouted, wash the MATKI in water for 3-4 times.

In a bowl take the MATKI Add water 2-3 inches above the MATKI.
Cover the bowl with lid and soak the beans for 8-10 hours.

After 8-10 hours discard the remaining water,

it will be double in size.

Again cover these MATKI for 8-10 hours
you will see beautiful sprouts from the MATKI. Now use these MATKI to make your favourite recipe.
(This is the traditional way to make the sprouts. Now a days sprout makers are available in market)

METHOD
Heat oil in a pan,crackle the mustard seeds.

Add just pressed Garlic, then add grated ginger fry it for a while.

Then add crushed green chilies, groundnuts.

add roughly chopped tomato, Saute it,

Then add garam masala, turmeric powder , red chilli powder and salt and saute it.

When oil started separating add sprouts and stir it.

Add roughly chopped coriander.

Stir well and add required water approx 2-2.1/2 cup.

When it started boiling simmer it and cover it, untill it cooks properly.

TO SERVE MISAL
Take a serving bowl.

First pour ready usal in the bowl 1 spoon with red gravy over it.

Then add little farsan, little yellow sev,

Finely chopped onion, finely chopped tomatoes and finely chopped coriander with piece of lemon

Serve hot immediately with pav or bread.
